I think in the end it's going to be just fine. 1 year contracts are more fun and the phones might cost a few bucks more but the freedom to move carriers sooner is very nice. 4 of 5 of my lines would be just fine on Virgin or any other prepaid with service in my signalsucksville world.

From the looks of this, I might just start buying all my phones through Best Buy. With Best Buy implementing their new buy back program, and with their black tie protection, I'm starting to like them more and more.
Currently I'm S-on and unrooted, but I'll probably reroot in the next day or so.

Hmm, what's up with the buy back program and black tie protection? Haven't looked much at that.

Well enlightened just took the words off my keyboard regarding buy back, and black tie is just like the Verizon insurance, only differences being that its $2 more a month, but there's no deductible

And they don't cover lost or stolen phones, but if you do like my wife and drop it in the toilet, they just swap it out at the store. No questions, and no waiting on a phone to be mailed to you

Man those really are looking like something to consider. That's an interesting premise.

I like that because no contract extension. At this point my wife just said the other day when her term is up just get her a $20 prepay phone at Target, my oldest son has his own now, my oldest daughter is over 18 (she can get her own if she wants), my youngest son went prepay by choice, my middle daughter could care less as long as it qwerty texts.

Not sure how you got them to do that. They are running me through all the repair attempts on my moto Droid. Same with a friend from work. From my experience Black Tie is a joke. It was fine back when they were replacement plans, but they suck now. Plus they want a $150 deposit for a crappy LG Ally as a loaner. Its been close to a month with no communication from best buy.
I'm never getting a phone from best buy again. Plus their mobile people have no idea what they are talking about.

I totally agree with the last sentence above.
Their mobile phone department at my local BB doesn't know the difference (or if they even carry) a gophone vs an iPhone vs a Sprint phone vs an Incredible. Definitely do your homework before buying a phone from my local BestBuy.
