The external battery showed up this morning. Very fast shipping from California, IMO, via usps and Newtrent.
The Inc charger works fine to charge it .
It came with a half full charge so I've been playing with some devices to see how it works.
It powers the Tab and Fire but didn't charge them . It powered and charged the Rezound and Inc.
It came with a retractable USB cord with a Nokia looking (round) plug that both the micro or standard USB plugs plug onto and a decent carry bag that everything easily fits into.
To use it you tap the power button to turn on the laser pointer, hold it for 2 seconds to power up the battery output or hold it for 3 seconds to turn on a very bright led flashlight. This took a few tries for me to get right, kept turning on the flashlight instead of the battery output.
The whole unit is smaller than our new 4"screen phones, just thicker and heavier, and doesn't really feel like a battery as much as it does feel like a TV remote

Our church is doing a salute to the troops today. I just got a call saying over 180 are confirmed to come and let us thank them with music, local choirs singing together, our local congressman as a guest speaker and a cookout to feed them. They are planning 600 plus their families.
Goose bump city!

There is a huge event in Richmond today as well, including a parade for those just returning from Iraq recently. I'd be there if not for what Mt Pleasant is doing.
Not to be bragging on myself but I got a support the troops arm band back in 03 and decided to leave it on until they all come home from Iraq. Now that we've won , officially left and they've mostly returned I've decided to leave it on until they're out off Afghanistan as well.
It was kinda tough not to take it off when Madelyn was a baby to keep her from grabbing and breaking it but it worked out where she never broke it.
Every year I get a nice tan line from it.
For a few years Battlefield Park, where I do most of my riding, let me do rehab on the trails and I met a lot of returning troops that way. Without fail they said their biggest fear ,while there, was not being killed or maimed but being forgotten by Americans. I'll never forget the looks on their faces as they shared that while at the same time being so humble about laying their life on the line so Iraqis could have the same freedoms we take for granted and to protect those same freedoms for us by keeping the battle off of our shores .

Amazing, simply amazing. The work you do is humbling, Mark. One of my college buddies got back from Afghanistan, his third deployment, on Mother's Day. He has been to Iraq twice and Afghanistan once. This all started back after being out of the military entirely for ten years. Wasn't even doing drill. Been a life changing thing. The good points are that he made it home safe each time, got promoted from Captain to Major and is now getting ready for Lt. Col.

Well, after three years, finally ordered a new laptop. Refurb 15" MacBook Pro with the i7 and a 750gb hard drive. Yeah, I'm a happy camper today. Got three solid years out of my 13" and already have two buyers lined up to buy it at $500. Not bad to get $500 on a three year old laptop that was $1100 originally. Very good return on investment.

Thank you for sharing Mark, I love to hear when cities celebrate the Military. They are all Heros in my book, I'm lucky to live in a huge military city and work with them daily. I'm so thankful for their presence, and thank them daily for their service as I drive through the gates of the bases we work in. May God bless our troops.
