No sound/notification or GPS with ANY Cyanogen rom (nightly or other)

For the last 3 weeks I have been flashing the nightly version of CM. With each flash I have not been able to use GPS navigation. I have done the following and nothing has helped:
    1) entered Navigation from Maps; entered it from Maps>menu>directions
    2) Entered it in Navigation.

What happens is that the GPS picks up on my location but I get at the bottom "Locating Satelites" for as long as 2hrs.

The other issue I have is abslolute lack of Notification for texts/pictures. Even with my volume turned up all the way...nothing. I do Have the LED light that either blinks or is steady depending on its mood. This is how I have notifications set up: Silent Mode>ON
    Vibrate>ALWAYS.
If I take off silent mode then it ...still does nothing.

Are you wiping data/cache/dalvik every time you flash a new nightly?

It could be. I don't know the requirements for Cynogen but a lot of ROMs these days require that your radio is at least 2.x, and on certain ROMs (HeyItsLou for example) .92 hboot is also required.

Ok so that brings up these questions:
    1) if I flash the correct hboot am I going to have to wipe everything again?
    2) does the hboot have the proper radio with it?
    3) where can I find the correct pb31img.zip?
