Cyanogen Rom and Redemption Rom
Hey I was looking into flashing a different rom on my phone. Right now I have the redemption rom 2.3 with heyitslou #6 kernel. How do I have that as a back up and flash the cyanogen 6.1 rom? I am assuming just simply back up what I have. Also what is the best kernel for the cyanogen rom, I take it I can't use my current kernel? Where can I get the rom without using rom manager?
Your input is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Travis

you can just back up your phone using Rom manager. and as far as downloading cyanogen, just go to the cyanogen forum, and look for the download under incredible. I am personally using invisiblek 28 kernel. runs smooth, you can overclock and it has a profile to slow your CPU on screen turn off

better yet try cyanogen 7, it's 2.3 with the new gingerbread stuff. i really like it. had 6.1 before, but this is cool. the keyboard is slick! i'm also using the invisiblek #34 kernel, and everything is working nicely. battery life is excellent, although i do have the 2150 battery..

I hope I dont offend anyone by saying this, just an opinion, but Cyanogenmods builds and roms are just leaps and bounds above every other rom in quality, design, and aesthetics. The level of customization that is at the users fingertips is just incredible. It sounds stupid but its the perfect example of the superiority of cyanogen builds, what other rom comes with 15+ wallpapers? Cyanogen devs are so talented and they care about the product they put out thats why they have the reputation they have and the respect they have today. Some of the nightly builds cyanogen does are of the quality some devs would publish as a stable daily driver rom. Ill step down off my pulpit now

Agreed, I think the CM roms are great. Even the nightly ones are at times more stable than other roms I try out. Can't wait for the stable CM7. Right now I'm using Ruby though. Really smooth and fast in my opinion. But definitely going to switch back to CM soon.

Yea I test out at least 1 different rom a day and I have yet to find a Rom that compares to the Cyanogen builds. The Nightlies are really fun to check out as well like you mentioned. Of course Roms are a personal preference but the level of customization with Cyanogen 6.1 should allow everyone to get the rom just the way they like it instead of having to settle with features of other Roms. With the ability to flash various apps and themes as a furthur tool to customize....it is just tops for me and always will be.

Also if I go to the 7 wil I have to readd all my apps (I have titanium backup). Thanks so much I am new to all this... (Have HTC INc)

BTW, the stock kernel on CM7 RC4 was pretty amazing IMO. BUT, CM7 stable is out and ready to flash. I might just start fresh to get a good feel of it. You would flash the kernel like you would flash any other ROM. (don't do full wipe, just dalvik cache)
