My dinc stopped ringing. Please help.

Hi all,

I have done a search and could not find anything quite like the problem i'm having with my dinc now; I have a dinc that doesn't ring any longer.

I noticed it yesterday when i received 2 missed calls and made sure that it was set to ring (no silence or vibrate). The volume was on max. I went to Settings/Sound/Phone ringtone and made sure nothing changed. Moved on a couple of ringtone and could not hear anything. Everything else (notification, alarm, media) works fine. The phone just refuses to ring when i get a call or when i'm in "Phone rintone" setting and move up and down on all the default ringtones. I tried soft reset (battery pull) and rebooted the phone several times; nothing. I even installed a ringtone app and changed the ringtone to different things and still nothing. So, now i have a superb smartphone that just doesn't ring anymore.

I run CyanogenMod-7.1.0-RC1-Inc.

Any suggestions?

try a factory reset and if that fails then flash another ROM. Though you very likely have a hardware problem on your hands.

Hi enlightened one. Yes i might very well need drastic measures here but i was hoping someone will have a softer alternative. For now, I'll hold off as long as possible and hope the forum will come through ...

I would do a quick nandroid and then a factory reset. If that fails, just flash back to your backup.

Thank you all. I'll give that a try and see if it does the trick.

does it give any sound at all? it kinda sounds like the speaker got blown out and is fully dead not just partialy... in that case it is a easy fix just replace the speaker there is a nokia phone speaker that fits and works...

Thanks lunas. As I've pointed out in my original post: everything else (notification, alarm and media) works fine. Good to know about the Nokia speaker though...
