How long between the message that it's reading it and it going to the HBoot homescreen? It actually doesn't take too long for the entire thing to be completely read. Have you tried booting up normally to see what you've got?
it probably takes less than a minute for that loading bar to be full and then resets again, my phone starts up like normal. once it shut off and vibrated 4 times and the led flashed orange and i couldnt turn on the phone without taking the battery off.
and yea when i boot normally and i still have the "verizon wireless" opening

The VZW message doesn't indicate whether it's running 2.1 or 2.2. Go to menu-->settings-->About phone-->Software information and tell us what you see for Android version (plus baseband and kernel kernel versions if you're not at 2.2).
ok thank you. this is what it says.

AHA. You're running an outdated radio. (Current version is 2.15.xx.xx.xx). The file Doug linked you to should have been sufficient even for old radios but I'm checking with him now to see if manually upgrading the radio might solve the problem. He's out and about with drinks in hand so it may take a bit to get back to you but someone will help at some point tonight, even if it's not Doug himself.![]()
ha ha sweet sounds good thanks again.
Doug says the tool didn't run properly if you're not updated. Let's try this- clear the contents of your SD card again, verify that it's formatted to FAT32 (I know you already said it was but let's check again for good measure), and redownload the file. Make a copy and save it both ways- PB31IMG (no zip) and PB31IMG.zip onto the root of your SD card- not in any folders- and try again.
EDIT: After re-reading my first sentence, it doesn't make much sense. Whoops. But I'm leaving it there. What I meant to say was it was not loading correctly.

Okay, even the edit didn't make sense. Should say this- the tool will update your radio and Android version at the same time if it loaded properly. That's why I'm suggesting starting over again with 2 files to hit all the bases to make sure a naming problem wasn't the issue the first time. There, that should be clearer now (I hope).
ha ha i know what you meant. So i did do that. i tried on a different computer
redownloaded the file.
Named it PB31IMG.
Formated SD card.
Put PB31IMG and PB31IMG.zip into card.
Tried it again. The bar loads then goes back to hboot screen.
im sorry i swear im not dumb ha ha.
