reset of INC wiped my SD card!

I recently did a factory data reset of my INC because I kept getting the "memory full" messages even though I had 4GB free. The subtitle for that choice in Settings > SD & Phone Storage is "erases all data on PHONE".

Phone ≠ SD card
Got it.

I read through the disclaimer, un-checked the box for "Erase SD Card", and hit "Reset phone & internal storage".
And when my phone was finally ready to personalize after the reset, my SD card was wiped. I lost all of my lists, pictures.....everything that was on the card. I thought about removing the card to be safe, but then I thought "I un-checked the box to erase the card, so I should be good." Nope. Everything's gone.

I've since used the phone and taken pictures.......is there ANY way to recover the lost data from my SD card? I'm betting "no", but I thought I'd ask the gods anyways.

I have the HTC Droid Incredible, Android version 2.3.4, non-rooted. It was a year old on Thanksgiving.
