Phone constantly shutting down (not rebooting)
I'm not rooted and running the official OTA.
Baseband: 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel:
2.6.32.17-g9a2fc16
htc-kernel@u18000-Build-149 #1
Now on to the fun part. It seems that I can't make it through a full day without my Incredible shutting itself down.
Details:
This is a recent issue, beginning in the last three weeks.
It never shuts down when I am actively using it.
It never shuts down when connected to power.
It is NOT shutting down due to low battery, as this has happened after a full charge.
After shutting down on its own, the phone will only boot up when connected to power.
Things I have tried:
Battery pull
Factory reset
The phone is bordering on unusable. I will try any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

You're so helpful today, Efin! LOL. iam, have you tried cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser?

Check for any signs of the battery swelling. It should be nice and flat across the battery. Even a little swelling could be a sign of a damaged or defective cell.
What are you using to charge your phone?

Will do.
I know the typical troubleshooting procedure is to only try one thing at a time, but I'm open to any other advice.

Battery swelling? Is that exactly what it sounds like? I'm using the stock charger and a USB car charger, sometimes my computer, all kinds of things really.
Seriously though, do I need to physically inspect the battery to see if it's swollen?

be extra careful not to bend your battery contacts whilst cleaning them

yes and yes. Take the battery back off and take the battery out.
