Unrooting, Stuck in HBoot/Fastboot screen
My incredible was shutting down and restarting multiple times a day and I wanted to go back to stock to see if this would stop, if it didn't, I was going to return it.
On Thanksgiving day I rooted with Unrevoked (I was rooted before but had to reroot) and installed Virtuous ROM. I shut the phone down, booted into recovery mode and reset the phone to factory settings. I also wiped the SD card. When I rebooted the phone, Custom ROM, Quickboot, Superuser, and Virtuous were still on the phone. Through the Market I redownloaded Root Explorer and deleted the Virtuous file. I tried to remove Custom ROM via the Market--I unchecked the "allow manual updates" box and then the previously grayed out "uninstall" button became active and I clicked on it. But it was still on my phone. So I went back into recovery and wiped everything that was listed on the same menu as "backup and restore" (I think).
I am now stuck on the HBoot screen. I'm afraid to power down. Please tell me I didn't destroy my phone....

I would start with pulling the battery and trying to reboot and see how far that gets you. Or selecting the recovery option in hboot and see if that gets you into recovery or if it reboots you into hboot.

I can get into ClockworkMod Recovery. Does that change anything?
Back to what I did (now that I'm in ClockworkMod and can see the menu), I:- format boot
- format system
- formt data
- format cache
- formatsdcard

This is good. You need to get out of that menu. If you selected all of those you basically wiped the whole phone. Meaning you have no rom on the phone to even boot to. Thats why the phone will not boot, there is nothing to boot.
You need to download a rom get it on the SD cad and flash it. Once you get the phone booting again we can discuss how to correctly unroot it.

Ok, that's what I thought.
It's not mounting to my PC though. I mean, I have the menu in Clockwork and it says the system and sd card are mounted but they're not coming up as separate drives on the computer.
(btw, I really really really appreciate your quick responses and willingness to help. Thank you so much.)

Don't mount the system or SD. Go to the bottom and enable USB mass storage.

ahhh, figures, the one thing I haven't pushed at one time or another. Waiting for Virtuous to finish downloading...when it does, just drag and drop it into the sd card then reboot?

Flashing ROMs tutorial
Follow that post on how to flash the rom. As for the second part of your post, you can drag or copy and paste. Either will work.

Great instructions in that post! Ok, my phone is recognizable now!

So now you want to completely unroot correct? If so is there a reason why?
