ok i started the rooting process and got to step 2 and when going into the device manager and confirming it says android for adb and all it says is android phone. so what did i do wrong?

That's fine. Just a different version of Windows. Go ahead and run the tool after enabling USB debugging, charge only, unknown devices.

Yep. Run the tool and let your phone reboot and do it's thing. It should restart 3 or 4 times and when the box on your computer says it's done you're rooted!
