    Cyanogen Errors

Been trying to load a different ROM on my phone for a week and not getting it to work.

Yesterday, I got my bigger SD card, so I re-installed ROM Manager, did a backup and downloaded the latest stable Cyangen ROM with the Google Apps and let ROM Manager install it.

It came up fine, but I keep getting Force Close errors.

Not sure what I have done wrong, I used ROM Manager to do everything???

Did you do a full wipe between ROMs? You can also try fixing permissions within ROM Manager- that solves some issues. Depends on what's causing the FC. If that doesn't work I recommend doing a full wipe, including dalvik cache (see the flashing ROMs tutorial), and trying a different ROM.

I can't even set up email on my phone now. I am getting a message "The spplication Email (process com.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I get this going into email as well as going through the menu/setting/accounts and Sync to try and set up email accounts??

wiping the dalvik cache I am getting "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk1p2 (File exists)"

Did that work? I don't think it did. When I installed the ROM, I put checks for it to backup and wipe data, is that the full wipe you mentioned?

I've never seen that error message before. Moving this thread to the Rescue Squad.

Its a common error message. Just ignore it. As for you fc's did you try and run the test kernel they have?

Can I run the test kernel from my current ROM? I ask since I have already restored back to my original ROM and removed the CyanogenMod 6.0.2 one that I had installed.

Download the kernel and flash it after you have flashed CM again. Do this while still in recovery and before you boot for the first time with CM loaded up.

Sorry to be such a noob...

    So my plan is:
    1. download the update-cm-6.0.2-Inc-signed.zip and the inc-test.zip to my SD card.
    2. Boot into HBOOT menu.
    3. Run Install zip from sdcard and install the update-cm-6.0.2-Inc-signed.zip ROM
    4. Before booting for the first time, run Install zip from sdcard and install the inc-test.zip.

    Does that sound about right?

All right but the going into hboot. No need to get into hboot. Just recovery wiil do the trick for you.
