Today, I rooted my phone. I rooted just to have access to root-required apps and a few other things, but nothing major like installing Custom Roms and overclocking and things of that nature...
I have a Droid Incredible and I rooted with http://downloads.unrevoked.com/recov...22/Reflash.dmg, being that I'm a predominantly MAC user, and I followed these instructions to do it: How to Root your Droid incredible! (Mac)
Okay, upon doing that, I had no problem fully booting into my phone, but then I get a "system update" from Vzn about updating my phone from 4.06.605.3 to 4.08.605.2. I ignored it and thought it probably wouldn't be wise to update it that way because I was now rooted.
So, I do some googling and find this link to manually upgrade to 4.08.605.2 [Rom] Official Inc OTA 4.08.605.2 [Updated:23Nov2011] New build is Ready! - xda-developers
I follow all the directions totally EXCEPT for the MD5 (step 2)... I accidentally didn't do that ... *sigh*
I kept trying to install the file via install zip from Clockwork Recovery, but it just kept saying "installation aborted"...it wouldn't let me flash this update.
I went back to the white screen with little androids on skateboards at the bottom and here's my information:
S-OFF
HBOOT 0.92.0000
RADIO 2.15.10.07.07
When I try to use HBOOT, I keep seeing something about PB31IMG not found. Before you ask, I found that file online and added it to my sd card and can't even install that via clockwork recovery. I've been looking for answers for literally 4-5 hours! I have not found anything to help this issue. I would like to stay rooted (as all I wanted to do was get the newest Gingerbread update after rooting), but I guess I would have to downgrade, but even the methods I've tried with that have been unsuccessful. Please please help me. I don't want to believe all hope is lost smh.
Thanks a lot in advance.
