Only had mine for a few days now, so I'm just being overly cautious I think. I'll check back in a week! And thanks for the advice about the auto-dim.. on my blackberry, auto-dim was a real power-saver, but it may cause more processing on the DI, which is where the real power-saving comes into play.

I totally agree with the battery statement. I've been using my phone extremely conservatively and I can manage 1.5 days. If this phone can get 2 days with ease, I would definetely not have it as a con. Why does the Motorola Droid and the Nexus One get a 1400mAh battery and the Droid Incredible get a 1300mAh. If anything else, it should have gotten a 1500mAh battery as standard. I blame it on HTC because their only goal was to keep the phone thin but at the same time, they're making it less usable by cutting down on potential battery size. If they made the phone just 2mm thicker, they probably would have easily been able to go with a stock 1600-17000mAH battery which would easily last me 2 days. Either this or HTC needs to do some more research and development on battery technologies. Using different metals in the battery would be totally worth the extra money.

Well one of the selling points of the phone is how thin it is. I personally love how thin it is. If you want a battery with more capacity but keep the same size to the phone buy the Seidio extended battery. It is 1750mAh and fits in the stock battery compartment.

I agree. Its pretty darn slim. And ya, for the power user, buying an extended battery is almost a certain thought prior to buying this device. I mean, if you have a DI right now, more than likely you kinda expected the battery to be a little bad, but i don't think this bad, lol.

The battery isn't that bad but not as good as my Droid. Then again i haven't been playing with the phone much since Friday because i am going to be doing settings and everything all over again Thursday when i go to get my replacement at the store.

Any device with this much connectivity is going to have battery issues. the battery tech just hasnt caught up. the thing comes with a ton of apps that access data on a regular basis. All that network access plays havok on the battery life. I got rid of most those widgets and set my email to a more reasonable time and my battery has been just as good as the moto droid.
Its like picking up your old dumb phone and making a 5 second call every 5 minutes.

"Batteries not included" remember? They give you training wheels...a 2gb card (that wouldn't save much of anything). So you then go out and buy what should have been included - a 32gb card (I looked for one at a couple of stores and they didn't have them in stock so I settlled on a 16gb card for now - that's plenty).
But for batteries, what they give you is a beginner...a teaser..just enough to preview all the fun 'n games available (it's really more a computer with a phone) and then when you're really getting into it, the lights go out.
I just got my 1750 mAh battery in and charged last night. They say it takes many full charges to really maximize it's staying power. We'll see. But I figure it has to be at least 15-20% more staying power and this battery DOES recharge fast. On the home unit, it took an hour 45 minutes to reach full charge from being at 17% power.
Yet, when all is said and done, it's really an amazing thing.
