The local VZW store is taking a $50 deposit and will release 10 of the phones on Monday, 26 April 2010. The Mgr said it was some kind of promotion. I had asked to be put on a list for release about a week ago and received the call yesterday about the special. I promptly deposted the money last night and will be in the store Monday afternoon.

You've lucked out. I've checked five corporate stores around me and so far none of them have heard anything about that. Really sucks. :-(

LOL nope im actually waiting for it to hit stores because my upgrade is complicated. I'm on a family plan so i'm using another lines eligible upgrade only I'm getting the phone. By doing it in store I'm making sure that the line I'm using the upgrade on will not get the $30/month smart phone charge on it as well.

I added a third line to my family plan and let them assign it a new number, chose the Inc as the phone for that line, got the $100.00 credit up front (rather than that goofy visa debit card) and now I'm waiting for them to ship the thing to me - Not a bad way of avoiding the crowds and the hassle of going to a store on the 29th.

Can we reasonably expect to receive these phones a day or two *prior* to the 29th, as a reward for pre-ordering?

I just checked my order on Verizon's order status site and saw the following: "Order Status: Your order has been processed. You should receive your order within 2 - 3 business days."!
