Phone wont power on or show charge light

I just got an incredible from a friend and there is no charge light and the phone wont power on. I put a tester on the prongs that the battery pushes against while it was plugged in and there is power going through there which means the battery is getting a charge. Just wondering if anyone had any issue like this and what fixed it. I know i'll need to find some parts just wanted to know what to start with if someone could help out, Thanks.

What voltage did the battery have? Hopefully it is just a bad battery.

Did your friend root the phone or drop it in water?

The battery is showing 3.72 dcv which is good, my friend got it from someone else and that person thought that the power button stopped working which would mean the actual button on the board of the phone because I tore it apart and pressed that directly and still nothing.
Anyway I bought one off Ebay that powers up but the screen doesn't work so ill just swap parts when I get it.
