Incredible stuck on hboot/bootloader
Hello, I am having some trouble with my incredible. I had previously rooted it and it worked perfectly afterwards so I know that is not the problem, at least not the only one. Though I am now regretting the decision to do so, I had turned off the debug mode thinking I wouldn't need to use it again. Long story short, I accidentally booted into the hboot menu by pressing down on the volume and power buttons. The problem is that I am now stuck at that screen. I am able to turn the phone on with the power button, but when it is turned on, the buttons don't do anything. It boots into the hboot even if I just press the power button and the only way to turn it off is by pulling the battery. I am guessing that it freezes or crashes or something, since hardware wise the buttons work. I am unable to reflash it due to it not being in debug mode and I can't enable it since it just sits there frozen each time I try to turn it on.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, is there any way to get past this screen? or to enable debug mode in its current state, or to factory reset it without being able to select it in the hboot menu?
P.S. Sometimes when it turns on it goes to the screen saying hboot and sometimes to the screen saying fastboot, either way it wont let me do anything with the volume or power buttons

I'm not so clear on what you're saying. Aside from being stuck when you go to Hboot, are you able to turn on your phone normally using just the Power button? What is the phone doing when you do that?

When I just press the power button to turn it on normally, it still goes to hboot and won't let me select anything. so no, I cannot boot it normally.

Sounds like you have a stuck button..... Maybe the volume button is stuck, try making sure there isn't anything caught in any of the buttons or in the optical pad. A small piece of debris can cause it....
Just a thought....

Hello, and thanks for the help guys. Would checking for debris require taking the phone apart? I am not afraid of doing that (I have experience with electronics), its just that I don't have a small enough screwdriver.
I am pretty sure that the volume buttons and power button are not stuck since I can feel the click when I press down on them and release them, though I will check for debris.
Also I'm starting to think that it may be the optical pad. It had stopped working for a while now. The only thing is that I had previously been able to navigate through the hboot menu even when the optical pad stopped working.
So I guess ultimately, the question is do I have to take the phone apart to check for debris? or is there an easier way

Can you feel it click when you press the optical pad button in? How about trying to push the optical pad button a few times to see if it will free up?

The optic pad and the volume down button will take you to different screens. When you boot up, does it say fastboot or HBOOT? If it says fastboot, it's probably the optic.

Actually when I just press the power button it says fastboot, while if I press the volume key also it says hboot. I am going to get the right screwdriver tonight so I can take it apart then and completely clean it out, but I'll try to play with the optical pad for a while.

Alright guys, I was able to fix it. Thank you very much. The optical pad was stuck, i just played with the button for a while and now it works fine. I still think I will clean it out tonight to make sure there is nothing in there that will block it again. the optical pad still doesn't work, but I don't care about that since I never use it.
Thanks a ton!
