rooting the right way-- anyone got THE BEST WAY??----

i need this great community's help once again----- but help in a positive direction!!!!---- i was the subject of a lengthy thread last night (THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT CONTRIBUTED TO MY SUCCESS, MAINLY DOUG PISTON AND ENLIGHTENED AND TWEEBEE AND RAZOR(i forgot the number razor, but you know who u are) AND ANYONE I MAY HAVE LEFT OUT ON ACCIDENT---- its to this forum that i owe (at least) the cost of my droid, plus all the time and patience it took to get my black screen brick to a phone again!!)now id like to get it rooted the right way---- with the wireless tether app so i actually feel as tho the $90 a month i spend on this money pit is worth it----so please someone show me a path to walk!!!

Wireless tether for root is in the android market DO NOT DOWNLOAD SDK ROOTING INSTRUCTIONS... you don't need them.

i respect ur opinion enlightened and thank you for all your help and patience last night but the 11 hour marathon was for a REASON--- it had a PURPOSE--- and that was to enable me to get this totally overpriced and overcharged monthly money pit to do something for me---- and that is make my mac mobile, from anywhere i desire---- and without that i might as well go back to boost mobile $50 monthly unlimited plan---- but thank you for your help and even if i do manage to somehow make the same mistake twice, i wouldnt be so terrified after the fact knowing i got a good friend like yourself thatd help me even tho i continue to make myself look absolutely stupid and incompetent!!!!

You don't have to explain yourself. We are here to help steer you in the right direction. Enlightened was trying to say you shouldn't get ahead of yourself. Keep in mind if a person keeps jumping into the same snake pit, eventually people will get tired of helping.

This is one of very few forums that people go out of their way to help someone in need. Since it is you that is rooting it should be you that reads and understands the ways and woes of rooting.


Since this isn't a chat board it is best for you to know and understand the rooting process BEFORE trying to do it. Heck when I rooted my dinc I even saved the web pages I was referring to, as well as printed the instructions. I am pretty tech savvy but even so I was new to rooting. I read threads for ages before finally doing it.

ok so i just ran unrevoked 332 and the oddest thing happend while it was "running root"--- a little message popped up and said "oh my making a note---- this was a huge success"--- then it said to me that this was a "triumph to remember"---- everythings ok as far as root--- but dont that seem a little odd??

yeah apparently my flash was a huge success and a great triumph at first it said error is your firmware too new but then i just re ran it and all good---- and havin that wireless tether app on the market sure is easier for everyone!!! now what are custom roms---- (read only memory, right??), i already installed the rom manager, and am on my way to much success in todays adventures---- kinda disappointed that i dont get to have another "11 hour marathon" with enlightened tho---- shes good conversation!!!

Don't use ROM Manager. Go to the hacks section, there are a bunch of stickies. One is a tutorial on flashing ROMs. Read that and flash that way.
