Help with "Stay Awake"

I've set "stay awake" on.
The screen does not go "off" while on a charger.
However, the display does go "dim". That is, the brightness level goes to about 1/3 of normal. I haven't been able to find a way to prevent this.

This makes the screen difficult to see in my car. I need the display to stay on standard brightness while in my car on the charger as I can't see the display to dial numbers.

Help?

Anyone? Am I the only person that experiences this...or is it standard behavior?
