syncing contacts from incredible to google contacts

Hello everyone,

Forgive me if this is covered somewhere else in this forum, I tried searching and couldn't find anything, so here goes.

I use gmail, including gmail's calendar and contacts. If I create a new contact at my computer, it shows up on my incredible (after the next time the incredible syncs, which is quite often).

But if I create a new contact on my incredible, the new contact does not show up when I sign on to my gmail account from my computer. On the computer, I have several labels or categories set up for my contacts. These categories show up on my incredible. When I create a new contact on the incredible, I assign it to one of these categories. It doesn't show up on the computer gmail in the assigned category or in any other category.

I'd be grateful for any ideas. Thanks!

Interesting. When i add a contact it ask me if i want to save it using gmail or phone. select gmail

i am having the same issue. when i add a contact to my phone it doesn't give me an option to add to gmail. it just has to buttons at the bottom (save/cancel). kinda sucks... any ideas???

nevermind... i figured it out. when u go to people and add contact there is a tab that says contact type. tap on that and it gives u options for gmail, exchange, etc...

Stupid me for not seeing that when I created my contact. Just assumed any new contact would sync to gmail, didn't know you need to specify "google" under "contact type" in order to make that happen. Thanks.

Is there any way to set that as the default? Right now, the default contact type is "phone."

You only get the option i was talking about if they message or call you first, and then you save it.

I think I may have an answer for you folks. Press menu, then settings, accounts and sync, and click on your google e-mail address, then make sure sync contacts is checked.
This should sync your contacts both ways, it has been working for me anyway.

Same issueI have tried everything and the sync does not work. I tried selecting google account when putting in new contact instead of phone and that did not work either.

Ok if you added a new contact onto the phone it will not Sync to google unless you specified you wanted that contact to be a google contact. If you did not do that you have to Re-add the contact. You can not change it from phone contact to a google contact.

When creating a new contact there will be a box at the top that says "Contact Type". You have to click that box and select Google and then create the contact.
