    MP3 on Memory Card

    Greets,

I have checked a whole bunch of promising forum posts, including one suspiciously on point, but alas it did not have the info.

If I wanted to load a ton of MP3's onto a 16GB microSD card using my PC; what would the steps be. I note from that close post, that the microSD card is formatted using a format which is incompatible with Windows *and* i still don't know the file structure so that the phone will find those mp3.

    THANKS!

Hook your phone to the computer by way of the usb. Select the "mount" option. Then, navigate to your microSD card on the computer through Windows Explorer. Create a folder named "Music" or something like that. Then drag and drop the songs you want to that folder. Unmount the phone and you're done. The media player should find the files automatically.

Any idea on how to get the album art working? The album artwork only shows up on some albums for some reason. I directly dragged the files from iTunes and every one had album artwork. It's not too big of an issue but if I could get all the album art into the phone, that would be nice.

I've noticed some work on mine and some don't. Haven't completely figured out the deal with the artwork yet.

Hey all, posted this to another music thread but this may be more to the point. Have my music all on my external microsd in dir called MP3 (did just as was described above) but the stock player and cubed don't see it. All just normal mp3 files. Any ideas?

Is your music DRM free? It has to be DRM free in order for Android to see the music files.

Yeah...good point, but they are all drm free. Mostly my ripped cds or purchased from amazon mp3. I'm doing more investigation and it looks like it has to do with how I copied the music on. I'm using rsync (command line sync tool) on my mac. It makes is so the when I add music it will sync both ways...and I'm used to using it on linux. But I had some settings like 'keep permissions' and also group and owner that seem to be related to the problem...will post more as I know.

I got a 2g sd card and adapter with my phone. I downloaded songs to the card and just plugged it in to the phone and placed the music app on a spare screen and all is good.

Got the permissions and such fixed for my rsync so some music started showing up but not all. Basically only a handful of songs would show up even though I had several thousand. Found that if I did not include my classical music, then everything shows up (in both standard and cubed player). Looks like I'm have some problems related to this issue:

Issue 4314 - android - Android is not indexing mp3 files - Project Hosting on Google Code

My classical music has some really long and convoluted names, like:

"06 - Psalmen Davids sampt etlichen Moteten und Concerten, Op. 2, SWV 22-47_ An den Wassern zu Babel.mp3"

And, yeah...so I'll have to work on the classical stuff but for now I'm up and running with the rest! = : )
