ok, so now my computer recognizes the droid so how do I download photos from the phone to the computer? I looked through the manual and it speaks about an sd card, does the phone come with one? and when I take photos do they go on the card?

Your phone may have come with a 2gb sd card, but I think you would have had to put it in. If you didn't you may not have one. How many drives are showing when you plug your phone into your computer and select "disk drive" in the notification bar on the Inc? If it is only one then you do not have an sd card installed. Once your phone is mounted, you can just drag and drop freely to your computer or phone. It works just like a flash drive in that manner. Your photo are put in the DCIM folder on your card and/or your phones internal storage. Look in this folder, find your pictures and drag them to your desktop.
Same way with adding stuff to your phone. Just drag it over and drop it. You can even create your own folders if you like. When you unplug your phone, the Inc will do a quick scan of your phone and see what has changed. It will then deal with any compatible files you put on the phone so you can use them
I had a BB prior to my Inc and I'm having a problem moving my Music, Vids and Photos to the SD card on my Inc. I had all my pics set up in folders, nice and organized on my SD card on my BB. I copied everything over to my PC and tried to drop them onto my Inc. When I plug in my phone, select disk drive mode and open folder to view filesI get an F and a G drive. On the F drive it shows folders as follows: Bookmark Thumbs, Footprints, Android, DCIM, Lost.Dir, MP3 and HTC Sync. On the G drive it shows folders as follows: Android Secure, Footprints, Android, DCIM, Download, Downloads, Lost.Dir, Media, Rosie_Scroll, RSS Reader, tmp and Yahoo. I dont know where to drop my pics, vids and music. Using Astro, I tried moving for instance my pics under DCIM as they were already in folders so just dropped my organized folders in DCIM. When I tried to open them under Gallery they all came up randomly under camera shots and the other catagory (i forget the title), I dropped music under MP3, didnt work, then audio still didnt show up right. Ringtones under notifications but they didn't show right either.
Everything showed up organized on my BB when I plugged it into my pc just as you would expect a thumb drive to look. Im not seeing that on this. I have an 8Gb card I installed. Trying to move all my pics, vids, ringtones, and music to the 8Gb card.
Am I doing something wrong here? I would think it would be much easier, even without using Astro.
Thank you
You can drop your folders anywhere you like. Probably just stick the folder on the root of either your cd card (sounds like the G drive) or the interal which is the F drive. When you unplug your phone from the computer, the Inc will do a quick scan of all files and folder and take care of what you dropped on there. DCIM is just a storage folder for your photos and video created on your phone. Digital cameras use the same structure so when you plug in a flash card from your Dig cam (into your computer using a card reader) it will probably show a similar folder (may be slightly different).
Many apps will make their own folders which is what you are seeing on some things. Unlike BB, you are not required to put things in a certain folder so just create folders like you want, put your media in it and then drop it on the card or internal storage.

If you want certain images to show up in certain folders while viewing on the phone then just name a folder something like (beach picts) and put your beach picts in it then drop it on the root of the card (root meaning no other folders on the card).
I think you are making this more difficult than it is. If the item you are putting on your card is compatible with the Android OS, then it should work. I personally just made a video, music and photos folder. Although I did make some personal folders which hold family member photos. For example, I named one folder "Jenna" and then threw a bunch of pictures and video of her in there. Now, when I open "photos" on the Inc, the Jenna folder is listed under sd card with a thumbnail of the first image in that folder next to it.

I was toying with this today with a friend that has one as well. Did some things similar to what you say. Thank God for that Astro program. Something like that should come on the phone.
Thanks I'll give it a try some more.
Maybe I am making this harder than it is but I've been playing with this till I'm numb here.
Basically, what I wanted to do, as I had on my BB was have pics with subfolders within them. For instance if I had pics from vacations I could have a main folder that said Vacations then subfolders under that such as Hawaii, Mexico, Canada for instance. I moved an existing folder I had broken up that way onto my SD card but dont think it would recognize it that way. It just broke everything out and was not divided into subfolders. Just all my pictures in one folders.
i don't even know if it will recognize subfolders, I'd imagine a Droid would.
