Viewing Phone as a Disc Drive

Up until the most recent Android update, I could view my phone as a disc drive by connecting it to the USB port on my PC - no problem. Since the update, when I plug the phone in, nothing happens. If I go to My Computer to access the drive, the computer freezes up. Is anyone else having this problem or do you have suggestions to fix it. This used to be so easy, now its just frustrating!

Hav e you reset the Default Connection tyoe?

yes (on the phone) - that does not seem to correct the problem. the computer won't automatically open the dialogue box which gives me the option to view the phone as a disc drive.

Hmm- Windows actually freezes when you open device manager? Do you use Task Manager to end the unresponsive process? That sounds like a computer-based problem to my former sys admin ears.

Correct - windows freezes. When I unplug the phone from the USB, it unfreezes. I'm wondering if it is related to my computer's anti-virus software not liking the phone for some reason.
