Your going to have these problems on any system that uses Parrot inside which is the majority of the factory built in as well as just about every stereo other than Sony with built in bluetooth. Its not a phone problem. Parrot's below the 9000 series chipset are just not compatible with Android or Iphone for that matter and the chipset they sell to the manufacturers are the 6100 and 6200 series. I found out the hard way after spending countless days and money trying to get countless systems to work after Parrot said they should work. Finally got someone there who was honest and/or knowledgable who turned me on to the Sony systems and haven't had a problem since. Of course I had to drive my semi-truck to their front door and demand to talk to someone there in person to get that information. They are in Rochester Hills MI, btw. Ford Sync, Hyundai, Audi, Toyota, BMW, VW, Mazda, Honda and Fiat are all manufacturers I know for sure use Parrot inside as well as every major stereo manufacturer other than Sony (Kenwood, Pioneer, Jenson, Alpine, Clarion) Whats funny the old Motorola T605 kit I took out of my truck and put in my kids car, a system that hasn't had new firmware since before the 6000 chipset from parrot was manufactured also seems to work fine, though it's not got the best sound on the stereo side. Little tinny, but hey its old. If you replace your stereo with a Sony, make sure you get this years version if you buy a cheaper one. The older one works fine but there is no way to install and external mic and the if the stereo isn't close to ya, the built in mic doesn't sound good. Newer ones have a jack and any mono jack mic (you can use a stereo jack mic with and adaptor) will work.

It's pretty consistent on mine. When you do have WiFi turned on do you get a good WiFi signal when you're connected to the Bluetooth in your car? I know that with other hand held devices I've lost WiFi as soon as I leave the living room. So, I'm curious if your scenario may be different because you don't have a WiFi connection from your car even when you do forget and leave it on.
I've also noticed that on the odd occurrence that bluetooth doesn't completely disconnect from the car, that any streaming Bluetooth audio will skip momentarily when the phone picks up the WiFi at home.

In my particular scenario I doubt it's the car stereo since the problem is clearly related to the WiFi radio in the phone. (The problem doesn't occur with WiFi disabled)
But then again the car stereo in my 2010 FFH is made by Sony. (It's the first thing you see when you turn the stereo on, "Sound designed by Sony") Though I'm not sure how to determine the Bluetooth chipset used in the stereo. Any tips on figuring that out would be much appreciated as I'm sure that information will come in handy sometime between now and the day I trade in my car.
Actually, come to think of it, the Bluetooth radio is probably in the Microsoft SYNC module anyway (not the stereo/navigation unit). Hmmm.... I'll have to do some more research on that later.

My expectations are aligned with what's possible, but I have to settle for what's available... therefore nothing's perfect and everything sucks!

The wifi hotspot is on the wall opposite my garage (the study and garage share the wall). I get great wifi signal out to the driveway and everything. I'll check again next time what happens to the wifi when i turn on the car and the bluetooth connects. Perhaps the bluetooth doesn't connect until wifi is out of range. I'll followup if anything seems curious.

I have 1 2010 F-150 with MS Sync and have had some but not a lot of trouble with my Incredible. The two main problems I have is (1) the Bluetooth connection between the HTC and Sync audio system sometimes drops and (2) the phone randomly and automatically is signaled to start playing its music. I had a Palm Treo prior to the Droid and did not see such interop problems before, which is why I believe it is related to either the HTC Bluetooth implementation or the apps.
I do not, BTW, have problems with my contacts syncing with the Ford MS Sync software. This works fine, but did not with my Palm.
Of course, the good of this phone FAR outweighs these annoying probs.

My phone will drop the bluetooth connection with my sync if I turn on navigation with the phone. Through Google maps. It takes turning the phone off and back on to get it to reconnect.

Yeah, I have the same issue. It's annoying if you have audio books or anything like that where you want to keep your place in the audio. The phone will be playing the audio through bluetooth even though you're listening to the radio (and can't hear the phone). Then when you go back to resume where you left off with the book it appears to have jumped forward 20 minutes or so (because it played them when you couldn't hear it).

Oh yeah... I should add that I think that the automatically playing music thing may be a MS Sync issue as this also happens on my wife's iPhone.

Bluetooth address book sync
I have a similar problem with my hd2 and Audi. The connection drops and reconnects and then gives up.
I have now concluded that if it finishes downloading the address book it is fine but when it fails during that download it disconnects the bluetooth.
I am wondering if there is some sort of timeout value to Terri to make that process more reliable.
