    Yahoo IMAP: Authentication Failed, after froyo update

    Here was the original thread I got it from: Yahoo IMAP
    This setup worked flawlessly for me on 2.1

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    After I received the 2.2 update this morning, I was able to receive an email from that yahoo account, via IMAP, but when I tried to send out an email, it said Message Failed.
    So when I tried to go through the setup again, and re-punch in my password, a failure message displayed:
    Warning:
    Authentication failed.
    Please verify your username/password
    So can anyone help me with a new set up after this Froyo update so I can use my yahoo account, via IMAP??
    Thanks in advance!
    Why do ppl call our phones, "Dinc?" Makes it sound like a puny crappy phone or a sound effect when you flick something
    You have Android now. Stop whining and complaining that iphone was easy/better... why the hell did you switch for?
    If youre going to change phones, be sure you're able to accept "CHANGE" and yes thats a change in how things are done. Its plain and simple
    Btw, have a nifty day! (^_^)
    Now... wheres my beer???
    What are you using for yahoo mail, the htc mail program or k9 or the yahoo mail app?
    I'm with you, WTF... since 2.2 my yahoo is fucked (pardon the language but this is buggin') ... hoping to get this nailed down. I'm having the exact same issues you listed in your first post.
    @Yellar: not sure about WTF but for me it's the stock mail program. We have 2 DI's .. both have gone tits-up.
    try using the yahoo mail app from the market. Might clear up your issues, if not I have no idea besides the usual of clearing the data and cache of that mail app....
    Little more clarification:
    gmail works - WiFi
    Yahoo mail app works - WiFi
    stock mailer (only works in 3g) - FAILS
    starts an endless loop of the phone asking for settings, putting settings in, then getting 'Authentication failure'
    Incoming settings:
    protocol: IMAP
    email address (it's correct)
    username (it's correct)
    password (it's correct)
    IMAP server: android.imap.mail.yahoo.com
    security type: SSL
    server port: 993
    hit enter, 'Verifying Authorization Information' (spinning circle icon).. spin....... spin...... "WARNING: Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password."
    arrrrgh... going internet trolling now - there have to be others in the same boat.
    3 of my friends tried the yahoo mail app and all three said its crap and full of bugs... they all ended up uninstalling... if its the app i have to go through, id rather use the stock browser and log in that way.
    But to answer your question, i was using the stock Mail program... just like Lactose
    Lactose.... i feel your pain bro... no worries, i was cussin up a storm too when i saw my authentication failing... look at my user name lol
    It's probably something they jacked up in 2.2. When the Droid x came out it had the same problem with yahoo not working over WiFi only 3g. They did an update to fix it so I have no clue what they did to fix it or if it can be done without an update.
    Yeah, gotta figure there will be bumps along the way... lol looks like they fixed in the other direction -- WiFi works but 3G is borked.
    Lactose, what does your Outgoing Settings say?
    Cuz my incoming settings works fine. I can "receive emails" ok.... even on 3G, but didnt try wifi yet
