My Droid Incredible Froyo experience...
I received the OTA update notice 48 hours ago and ran it.
Everything went fine, at one point it say at the boot logo apparently doing nothing for about 5 minutes which had me worried, but eventually it proceeded.
I haven't noticed any speed increase like some people have said, but have had a few problems.
Major one seems to be using BeyondPod podcast player. Much more often than I would like I go into it and there are no podcasts. I have about 15 regular subscriptions but often there is nothing there. *The problem seems to be that it cant see my SD card. Not sure if this is an SD card problem with Froyo or BeyomdPod working with Froyo, either way I often have to kill the app then restart it. Its annoying as aside from email this is my most used app.
Second, since the Froyo update a number of times after turning the screen off as usual with the top button, then later pressing it to use the phone, I swipe down and I am in...WithOut it asking for my passcode! This is very bad! This never ever happened before froyo but happens 1 out of 10 times now and Secure is very big for me considering what I keep on my phone.
Google speak is nice to be able to have. The hotspot is nice but I believe it requires a Verizon plan, at least it indicates it has to be activated with Verizon to use. Disappointing.
Cant say I notice any other benefit and because of the above mentioned issues, wish I did not do the upgrade.
Also cant comment on battery as I have the 3500mah battery. That was the best decision ever. Worth ever penny not having to swap 1500mah batteries twice every day.
When I reboot the digitizer is unresponsive, although the trackball works. The problems seem to be affected by whether or not I'm plugged in and recharging. This morning after rebooting the phone brought up the timer app and scrolled the wheels. Then it changed the notification sound. It looked positively haunted. Turning power off and on seems to help, but that may simply be a matter of timing. My charge also seems to drop about 5% as soon as I unplug. I've got a lot of testing to do to come up with specific (replicable?) issues.
All these things are annoyances rather than major problems as the phone seems to settle down and behave. Over all, froyo is an improvement. I haven't had any of my spontaneous reboots (though it's only been one day). Things run more smoothly and quickly. Oh, and my reception (in real dBm - not just bars) seems to be improved. That and hands free bluetooth dialing are the top benefits.
But what's with Amazon MP3 and Skype? And could the Verizon driver installation request when plugging into a PC be any more annoying?
Bottom line - a step forward but Verizon reneged on not bundling bloatware.

To get rid of the VCAST advert:
Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password is 000000
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)
Back out to home
The few issues I've been finding since the Froyo update are minor ones, and likely only due to apps that still need to be tweaked more for Froyo. Swype for one, I had to uninstall it and reinstall it, and now it works, but sometimes it's still flaky or sluggish. The instant battery drop is nothing new, it's just something we were all hoping would be fixed and wasn't. Overall I think my battery life has improved since Froyo.
Having hands-free bluetooth dialing back is wonderful. When I got my Dinc, I couldn't believe that a smartphone didn't do bluetooth voice dialing. I knew I had to be doing something wrong... <shrug>
Call quality still garbled for some calls.
Still get low on space warning with over 260mb free and no social apps or large caches causing it.
My calendar no longer syncs. I use Outlook, via Exchange ActiveSync. Never had problems prior to this, and my email and contacts sync correctly. Uninstalled the account, reinstalled it, and it does the same thing. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
I can finally post this now that Im using my home PC because whenever I tried coming here, and many other sites, my internet would just quit. I'd click back on the net, and it just brings me back to the homepage.
Whats up with that? Anyone else having those problems with the net??
My reply emails still get stuck in the outbox with an exchange account. Can't send reply emails in exchange account. This is very frustrating when you can't reply to an email.![]()
Ok 2.2 is pissing me off:
1. 3g keeps turning off randomly. The icon will just disappear and I'll lose connection. I have to reset 3g to regain connection.
2. Battery charges slow as hell.
3. HTC IME keyboard mod for 2.2 is laggy and calibration doesn't work.
I want to go back to 2.1
