VERY frustrating problem after froyo update
i just updated to froyo this morning and really regret doing it. text messages send without my permission, texts dont send, if i click one persons name it will open someone elses text messages, and the most annoying problem of all is i cant type fast on the keyboard anymore cause whenever i type the letter Y too fast it deletes it and adds the next letter i type its hard to explain but makes the keyboard very unusable for me and it feels overall less responsive

Try a battery pull first off. I know some are having issues, but I have not seen much of the ones your are describing. Was it the official OTA?

Ok. Battery pull and then you may want to try a factory reset although some appear to have had issues with Froyo and a factory reset. I really wish we could find some common link between the members having issues with the Froyo install. I did not do the OTA one, but am running the 2.2 without issue.

You can follow this guide:
How to downgrade and root your DInc from 2.2 |

Mjs,
You think its possible to REUPDATE with the update.zip file to maybe replace the OTA? Would that even work? seeing that the system already recognizes 2.2
Just a thought
Why do ppl call our phones, "Dinc?" Makes it sound like a puny crappy phone or a sound effect when you flick something
You have Android now. Stop whining and complaining that iphone was easy/better... why the hell did you switch for?
If youre going to change phones, be sure you're able to accept "CHANGE" and yes thats a change in how things are done. Its plain and simple
Btw, have a nifty day! (^_^)
Now... wheres my beer???

Possible, but I am not really knowledgeable enough on this to say it would work or if it might cause more issues. I wonder if Doug Piston knows if this would work? I just glanced at the link the Nils posted and that very well may be an option.
We were discussing these issues and what is strange to me and some others is that the rooted version does not appear to have these issues that many are seeing. Coincidence, not really sure. We just cannot figure out why many have had issues and so many have not.

would this void my warranty if i bricked it? i could deal with all the problems besides the laggy keyboard its driving me insane

If you brick your phone while trying to root it (which I understand is very difficult to do), your warranty through VZW would in fact be void. Some people have "accidentally" dropped their phones after bricking them in order to get replacements through their insurance policy- lol- but my best advice is to NOT root or otherwise modify your phone without carefully reading all of the great instruction threads posted on the forum.
Have you called VZW to report your issues post-OTA? I know people like to try to avoid calling them but they are responsible for any problems that arise when customers install the software they tested and sent out (provided they were running the stock settings before the update). There have been various problems- some of which they may have developed fixes to, others that they need to hear about from more people in order to establish that the problem exists. In some situations they've been exchanging devices that have these mysterious post-froyo OTA problems. You've already done a battery pull and factory reset so the phone call shouldn't take much of your time but could yield good results. Food for thought.
