Native messaging app and Google Voice
I'm wondering if anyone knows how to make the native messaging app send out using google voice. i receive messages on the native app when people send to my google voice numbers and when i respond it goes out using google voice. but when i compose it sends out using my native phone number. i feel like it's possible because when i go to messaging through my contacts i have it set to send out using google voice sms. any way to make this happen? i would like to be able to use the widget fully with my google voice.

I've been trying to figure this out as well. there's a bit of good news/bad news situation. my understanding is that if you have google voice forward SMS to your actual phone, it comes from a forwarding number (406 area code), and when you respond to that message, the recipient will get it from your google voice number, even if the message originates as an actual text from your cell phone number, since it gets forwarded via google voice back. This only works if you're responding to a message you received that someone sent to your gv number. However, this requires 2 annoying conditions, that people have to text you first at your gv number for this forwarding stuff to work right, and also that it still requires you to maintain an actual text plan (no cost savings).
unfortunately, if you initiate a text conversation via people, and send it out using htc's native messaging app, it is only capable of sending it out from your phone number, and it'll be entirely separate from the google voice system. so, when the incredible gives you the option to compose a message using either native messaging app or GV, it's one or the other, and their on completely different systems. Therein lies the catch 22: use the native messaging app and all the nice widgets, or use GV app for free texting, but lose integration with the widgets.

When i first downloaded it when you make a new text it asked if u wanna send it through GV or message app. i check messape app and hit remember. if u wanna text through GV select the GV button
