Re-Boot for no reason.
Ok..so another little kwirk ive noticed is that my cell has shut itself down 3 times and "re-booted" itself. Its like the power has been turned off and then comes right back on, and the phone goes through its normal start up. There is no loss of apps or any other problem that I can see. Anybody else experiencing this? Any ideas why its doing that?

Same just happened to me a couple minutes ago. I tapped the power to wake the screen, and started sliding my finger to unlock and poof - HTC Startup screen.
No clue how to find out what caused it... hope it doesn't continue to happen.

Happened to me for the first time this morning. My Dinc's alarm never went off this morning to wake me up, so after getting out of bed 2 hours later than usual and calling my boss to tell him I'm unexpectedly burning a couple of hours of personal time, boom, my Dinc just reboots as soon as I ended that phone call. I'm guessing that the failure of the alarm and the random reboot of the phone are probably related, both symptoms of something else that had crashed in the phone. Wish there was a way to find out what it was.
Hey, at least I'm well rested!

i have been noticing this happening when there is a crappy signal. Sounds like a software glitch.
-
Noticed this morning it has been consistent with it being plugged into the car charger usually when the battery is fully or about to be fully charged.

I've seen it a few times, too. A couple times when running 3G and GPS, and the phone was getting warm, so I thought it might be over-heating, but once also while charging overnight with nothing special going on. No more than a nuisance at this point, but it would be nice if it could be controlled.

First time I noticed it, I was making copies from a thick book with the lid on the copier partially opened. The phone was in my shirt pocket (not where I usually carry it, but it was there at the time) and as the light from the copier passed, the dinc rebooted. I don't know if that was a coincidence or if the light (or some signal from the copier) had something to do with it, but, given the timing, I've always suspected it did.
I've had random reboots a couple of other times that I'm aware of, but sometimes when I look at the "up" time in the settings the time doesn't seem quite right. I wonder if I've had reboots in my pocket that I don't know about. I teach school, so I usually keep all sound and vibration off during the day. I might not have any way of knowing. We have notoriously bad reception in my building.

Update... Ok so this morning Im on duty..listening to the Fox News App..everything is fine..working great..then it happens. The App stops working, phone freezes up. It has been plugged into the car charger the whole time. (Yes, im using the appropriate car charger for the device) The phone shuts down and re-boots....over the next hour it does this repeatedly. I unplug it from the charger, it continues to go blank screen, then reboot all the way till the home screen...stays that way for a few seconds, then is blank, and begins to reboot. I pull the battery, and wait...same process. It is more than an inconvenience. I love the phone and the OS....when they work, but this is ridiculous. Im open for suggestions at this point. Like I said Im new to all of this so Im not as proficient as Id like to be (yet) on the Tech side of things. Should I factory reset? If so...how do I do that, and (i assume yes) will it remove all of my apps. Should I take it over to Verizon(as much as I dont want to) Id rather get the support here for all of you than go back over to Verizon. Any advice/help is appreciated.....

Hmm, a re-boot in that situation might be called a feature rather than a bug.
Seriously, though, was the phone really warm during this time? I have an app called "OSMonitor" that tells me the battery temperature (currently 99.86 F). My own experience indicates that the mystery re-boot is probably not always caused by temperature, but it might be a factor.

I thought about the temp issue. the battery didnt feel particularly hot or even warm to me. I should note that I am using the 1750 mAH battery though. Held the phone and battery up to AC vent just for the hell of it. did not help. the phone just finally stopped re-booting after about an hour os so. Nerve wracking you know? You pay all this money for something that is supposed to work well and this kinda thing happens!!???
