Contacts Listed Multiple Times - Why??

When I open a new text message to create and drop down the contacts list to choose, some of my contacts are listed multiple times (2 mobile, 2 home, 2 work, etc). Anyone know why this is happening and how to remove it? I do have some contacts linked to Facebook, if that is relevant to the question.

Same here. It seems like when I synced my contacts with Gmail, Facebook, and Verizon Backup Assistant everything got duplicated. I had to go into my contacts and manually removed the dupes. What a pain in the arse.

The phone will try to "link" contacts from your google (and possibly other) accounts. If you have phone contacts and email contacts, they will get "linked" and thus will appear twice. You can go into the "People" application/function and "unlink" them, or delete the email/phone version of the contact for duplicates.
