Calendar and syncing--deal breaker?
If I had known that an HTC phone wouldn't sync events that I add to the phone to the Google Calendar, I wouldn't have switched from my moto Droid. Don't get me wrong--I love the incredible--size, weight, looks etc. But I can't find a way to sync from phone to desktop. I've done a lot of searching on this forum and the answer seems to be that it can't be done. I've tried a lot of calendar apps and have settled on Pure Calendar Widget which works fine. But what I liked about the Moto was that I could add an appointment and then find it on my desktop when I got home. Not sure what HTC sync is but I can't get it to work on my Windows 7 64 bit machine anyway. Is this a sense UI issue? The Droid X looks awfully big for my small hands but this calendar thing is driving me nuts. Any help would be appreciated.

How does it work. I'm looking for some help. Be kind, please, I'm a 74 year old granny and could use some direction.

I'm using the standard HTC calendar, and my first attempt at testing this was not successful. I have two Google calendars, and the default of "My Calendar" on the Dinc did not add to my Google Calendar (which is correct, My Calendar events are only saved in the local calendar). When I selected the correctly named Google Calendar in the add dialog the event was sync'd about 3 minutes later.

Sorry for being dense but what "correctly named" calendar were you referring to? I only have one Google calendar.

Being as the default for an add is to My Calendar, which is the local calendar on the phone only, did you select your Google Calendar for the add, and not My Calendar?

My new Incredible synced right out of the box. I think it did it when I first added my gmail account and updated my contacts.

Check your sync settings and see what the sync interval is. I got frustrated with the same issue until I realized that it was set to sync every 3 hours. Might want to reduce the sync interval.

Thanks everyone for your help. It seems that you can't have any calendar checked (when the HTC calendar opens) except for your basic GMail calendar. Once I got all that straightened out (and removed all the other calendars I had created to color code entries) everything is working fine. I still think I should be able to have several color coded calendars but if HTC won't work that way, I'll just live with it. Tried an X today and it is a big phone for my small hand. Still love my Dinc for everything else it does and now that I can use the calendar I love it more. The quote (below from LOst in Space) was right on.

thanks everyone from one of the oldest Dinc users (probably).

@fibermick are you saying that the phone won't recognize more than one google calendar? I have several google calendars to color code my calendars as well and I have them all displayed on the computer as well as my incredible. I use Calendar Pad widget to display it on my phone.
