Changing Calendar Color(s)

Hi,

I have been looking for how to change the color on calendar events and I cannot seem to find how..

Can anyone help me out with this? When I setup an event, the only color that shows up is a light blue/turquoise color and I cannot find out how to change it.

I would like to have different colors for work, personal, etc. on different event and have been trying to figure out how to do so, but have not..

I would appreciate any input on the problem

I use the free app Calender Pad. It lets you see events with different colors if you use different google calenders (i have a work calender, personal one, etc with each having it's own color). Just could not make stock calender work so nicely.

So basically in order to be able to see different colors on my events, I would need to sync my events with a google calendar that has them labeled [differently]?

Using different google calenders is the only way I have found to get the colors different. Download calender pad, it is free, and just mess around with it some (you can always remove it if needed). There aren't great instructions but you can figure things out in time. It just uses the info in stock (ie Google) calender and displays it nicer. I had a Treo before the Dinc. The calender on Dinc was very disappointing, almost a deal breaker. The cal pad app saved the phone from being returned. The stock cal always has the same colors for everything in month view no matter what you do. Using different google cals will allow different colors to show up in day or week views. Hope this helps.

I have tried diffferent Calendar apps on the market and too have settled with Calendar Pad. It works for my needs. This different Google Calendars intriques me. I have to keep a calendar for family, work, school sports, volunteer hours, etc. So not to hijack the original users thread here but would I keep my original calendar, then create one for every family member to separate out in different colors, and then delete the original? Right now I just have the 1 Google Calendar with EVERYTHING on it. I can't afford to lose anything but really want to separate things out as you suggested.

That is basically it. I have seperate Google calenders for my work, personal life, husband's work schedule, when I get paid, a club I belong to and one for my parents schedule. Each has a different color label so in calender pad they each show up with different color print. I got rid of the all-in-one calender after setting all this up.

Within the stock calender, you can select which calenders you want to view (ie, sometimes I turn off my parent's calender) and it changes calender pad also. It is easy to add events within each calender on the phone also. When adding new event you simply select the calender to add event to. Also simple using multiple Google calenders on computer for me. Doing it this way let's me have that one glance overview on my phone I personally need on a daily basis. It took time to set up initially but now it is no big deal at all.

Don't delete a calender though if you need old info from months past, just choose not to view it on phone.

Let me know if you have any other questions. I am by no means an expert on this phone, but getting calender the way I needed it was critical for me the 1st month, otherwise phone would have very sadly had to go back.

Well, it seems to me that they didn't work hard enough when creating the stock calendar. When I first saw phone screenshots of calendars, there always seemed to be multiple colors, making me think that you could simply go into the event you were inputting and changing it based on the category it was in.

I guess I will have to try what you suggest, because I have been looking around and haven't found anything else...
Kind of seems a bit complicating creating different calendars with different colors, etc. ; seems like it's a lot of work for someone to do that has a fairly busy schedule, oh well.

Thanks for the input, I will try to follow your suggestion sometime when I have some time to set it all up. I'm pretty tech savvy, but, just hoping I can easily figure it all out!
