Browser bugs! so annoying! Help?

I am using a brand new Incredible (at least that's what BB told me) after I returned mine due to some issue with the ear piece-it was sounding crackly when people called me. Other than the ear piece, everything else was perfect and so I have something to really compare to.

That being said, I am having some issues with the browser on this one and I'm really upset because I don't want my brand new phone to have anything wrong with it, as minor as they might be. On the other hand, I installed my last Steinheil screen protector, and so if I exchange again, I will have to buy more.

The first problem I noticed is with the stock browser. When I try to search using the mobile Google search, the little "search" button to the right of the bar won't select no matter how many times I press it. It just zooms in on the screen. I either have to press enter on the keyboard or I have to use the regular google search and not mobile. An internet search did not find anyone else with this problem. Just to make sure it wasn't something wrong with the touch screen, I downloaded Dolphin HD, and I can press the search button using this browser. Does anyone know the solution to this (other than to simply use the other browser as that is a workaround, not a fix). I tried turning off and on the phone, clearing the cache and forcing stop, and I also tried removing the battery while it was still on and then putting it back in (as I was told this would reset the software) but to no avail.

Secondly, I noticed that if I go to facebook using the stock browser, the touch site would not load. When I clicked to go there I would get a blank facebook screen with the little notification icon on top but would not be able to click on anything on the screen. And after being signed out from using another browser, when I tried to sign back in using touch on the stock browser I was able to put in my username and password, but the "login" button will not press similar to my issue with the mobile google search button. Similarly, the login buttons for the mobile and full site do not work however with these two they will at least select while on the touch site it doesn't even look like it's registering that I selected it. Login button works for all three sites using Dolphin.

Thirdly, when I am navigating on facebook, the browser keeps automatically redirecting me to the touch site. (Not on the stock browser since I can't even get it to load on there). I found that changing the user agent from "android" to "desk top" stopped this but my other phone was not doing this, and I am assuming there is a reason why android is the default option on the phone and so would like to use it without bugs. Does anyone know why it keeps redirecting me and why it did not do this with my other Incredible?

Also, I've had to force close android twice now when going to my messages...something I've never had to do before on my old Incredible. Is this something I should be worried about? The only apps I have installed on this phone are Call confirm and Dolphin HD so I don't think there's an issue with too much running in the phone...

One more thing that is separate from my browser issue is my facebook notifications are not coming up in the notifications bar. I know that facebook for android sucks with the updating, but I was at least getting SOME notifications this way on my old phone. Now I am only getting pokes even though I have all of the other options selected!

NONE of these were issues with my old Incredible, so I know that these things should not be happening with my phone. I can't help but wonder if BB gave me a refurb even though they told me it was brand new since I returned within my 30 days. My other hunch is that this came from a completely different lot of phones since this phone came with a 2gb SD card and my old one did not. The boxes look completely different as well. If anyone could shine some light on these issues or tell me how to fix them it would be greatly appreciated.

If not, I guess I could return the phone again and end up having to buy more sgp shields. But if I could just get this one to run like the other one bug-free I would be so much happier.

I would back things up and do a factory reset. This has helped many people. It really sucks, but may be worth it. Sometimes there are just glitches on any os install and a reset helps.

I would love to give you some other help with stock browser or face book, but I don't use either. I am an Xscope guy and very seldom go to facebook although I am getting many requests lately. Everything you stated should not happen though...

Thanks for responding, could you please tell me the steps for backing up and reseting? Do u mean to press the volume and power button? What do I do after this and what things can I back up as I'm not sure what I have that can be backed up unless I can also back up certain settings.

nevermind,figured it out. didn't back up anything but everything was apparantly already backed up (by google I suppose?) because things were still there once I reactivated the phone.

previous browser issues correctd with the factory reset, although I'm still having some problems when typing comments on facebook webpage.

Also, SMS forces closed about once every other day. :-/
