Notification LED

This is odd, maybe this has happened to others, or maybe this is the way it should be?

Received the Incredible yesterday and LED would blink when a new message would arrive (just as it should). Put the phone on silent when I went to bed and had the phone next to me, messages still coming in, however, no LED. Picked the phone up and turned it on to check if I had messages this morning, no blinking LED yet had messages, lock screen came on and notification LED started working. Been working ever since?

maybe this will help... The LED light blinks for Approximately 5 minutes and then stops, so if your away from your for a longer period of time than 5 minutes, you have to wake the phone and check.... Handcent sms App has a setting to extend the LED indicator light.
