dropped phone and now black screen. any suggestions and help pls.

This isn't my phone, this is my mom's.

So the problem began when my mom dropped the phone a few weeks ago. and at first she could use it well. no problems were showing up.
then after a few days the screen goes black. she can answer calls by swiping up to unlock the phone but still no display from the screen.
if she restarts the phone the display will come up as if nothing happened, its all well and ready to use. BUT, the problem is, if the phone went to sleep mode (or screen lock) the phone wont display anything again. you have to wait for it to cool things up and then restart the phone over again. but sometimes it never really do the trick. its like fishing in shallow waters where you don't know when it will work again.

any help would be appreciated.
if i fixed this problem the phone will be mine. LOL
i would read more things about this HTC Incredible just to understand the programs ill use to fix this.

i guess the flex cable ribbon got loosen when dropped, that's why it displays occasionally
