Phone not re-booting correctly after doing HTC update

The phone is a Droid Incredible by Verizon. It is non-rooted and is running the official
Verizon version. I could not get the other information since I can't get the phone out of the re-boot cycle.

I got a message to update this AM. After doing the update the phone will not complete the boot cycle. It cycles between the HTC Quietly Brilliant screen and the Droid Screen (both visual and audible). This is about as far as it goes and it continues to cycle through the screens. The on/off button seems to be doing nothing. I have tried removing the battery, but, as soon as I replace it, the phone starts the cycle up again. The only way to stop the cycle is to leave the battery out.

Help needed please.
