Angry Incredible insomnia (too much awake time sucks battery dry)

My wife and I have a pair of identical Incredibles, utterly and completely factory stock -- not rooted, current OTA updates. Versions on both phones match: 2.3.4 Baseband 2.15.19.07.07, kernel 2.6.35.13-g03546aa, htc-kernel@and18-2 #1, Fri Oct 7 10:52:52 CST 2011, build 4.08.605.2 CL185897 release-keys, software number 4.08.605.2, browser WebKit/533.1, PRI 1.28_002, PRL 52642, ERI 5.

A few days ago she began complaining of short battery life. I pulled the battery, uninstalled every app we didn't have in common, and still she has at least 5x the awake time that I do (with predictable consequences for her battery.)

Is there anything to be done other than a factory reset? Any guidance on whether I really need to wipe the SD card? She did a bunch of picture-taking and videoing shortly before the issue surfaced -- any chance that simply having that content on the card could be an issue?

Will the OTA updates survive a factory reset, or will she need to do those upgrades all over again?

(FWIW, Verizon's helpful advice was to replace the phone...)

    Thanks!

Do you happen to have handcent text app on hers? When sending a picture message it has developed a bug that keeps the phone from sleeping sometimes after the message gets sent. I just manually kill handcent after sending mms until they fix the bug. I've also read reports where after the Inc was updated to 2.34 that some cameras are not closing after use, again keeping the phone cpu awake.
Take a look on the market and grab watch dog lite. It'll give more ability to see exactly what is keeping the phone awake and the ability to kill the problem.

Thanks, but no handcent. And I really couldn't see which app might be at issue, so I've done a full factory reset. Hope it really helps...
