Incredible acting freaky, locking and jumping, vibrating

I bought a used Incredible several weeks ago... I made sure it worked well for a few weeks before I rooted it and installed Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
After a few days it started locking and jumping to various screens like google voice search, recent apps, wound slide to unlock, and becoming generally non responsive to touch until I let it sit for a while.
After reading about folks having problems with Cyanogen 7.1 I have since tried MIUI, Minimalist, and a few others. They all give me the same type of errors. They seem to work great for the first few minutes, but revert to the bad behavior shortly thereafter.
I have tried to fix permissions, got rid of some apps, cleared cache.... with no luck. I even tried running it without the SD card.

Should I try to reinstall the stock ROM?
Any help would be appreciated.
Current ROM: MIUI
Radio: 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel:2.6.37.6 cyanogenmod+
Overclock : NOT that I know of

OK . I just pulled the SD card and it had been good for an hour or so. this morning its back to its old self.

I have the unfortunate feeling that you're not going to change the behavior by installing a different ROM. Sounds like there's a hardware problem with the Screen Digitizer.

What do you know about the history of this used phone?

It was a Craigslist phone.... The guy said that he had just got it back from being repaired. Paid 75 for it.
Maybe I'll try to get it back to stock ROM, but I'm afraid your probably right.
