    Another "Random Sutting Down" question

Hi, first post here. I read several similiar threads about the Incredible phone randomly shutting down, but none were exactly like my situation...(according to my thinking anyway)

    Phone Details:

Bought in Jan of this year from bestbuy. The phone hasn't been rooted nor any other warranty voiding hack performed. Shortly after purchase I bought an after market extended life battery and have been using it for almost the entire time. I'd say about 9 months now at least. I dont download a ton of apps, but have a few, since I have the limited data plan(150mb per month)

In fact I can probably name most of the apps if needed.

Anyway, the phone started randomly shutting down around 3 months ago. Maybe once a week, but not very often. I took it to a local verizon store and they checked it out, but basically only did a manual system update.

A couple weeks later, it shut down again. SO back to the store again. A different one, but this time the guy pulled my sd card out and suggested maybe I had some corrupt files that was causing it to shut down. He said I should leave that card out for a time and see what happens. I left all cards aout for about a week, but wound up inserting a different card that had some music on it.

The shutting down happened again, so another trip to the verizon store and they suggested I uninstall some apps. They particulary didn't like the AVG mobile anti-virus app I had. SO I uninstalled that to NO avail.

MOst of the similiar threads said their phones would shut down, but then reboot anyway. Mine I have to manually reboot. I've picked my phone up from my desk several hours later to find it powered off for God knows how long.

This morning I uninstalled or moved to my sd cards MOST of the unneccessary apps on the phone.

DOes anyone have any other suggestions? Could it be the battery? I asked verizon about the battery, but they said no it shouldn't be the problem. I took it out this morning and cleand the connections. The battery doesn't seem to be swollen or anything.

I'd like to get it fixed or I'll have to bring it in for warranty swap but the end of the year.

Sorry for the long post, but thought it best to give as much details as possible.

    Welcome to the forum
Try the oem battery for a few days and if it doesn't shut down, then I'd go with it being the battery. If it still shuts down that will eliminate the battery.
I get a kick out the Verizon folks sometimes with their lack of knowledge but with the plethora of phones they sell and their policies to push push push I also don't blame them for knowing little about them. Speaking of that, many Verizon employees will highly suggest you run a task killer. If you are running one try either uninstalling it or at least make it manually kill apps only. The auto kill can do a lot of unintended things to your phone, none of them pleasant, and could cause your phone to freeze or even turn off but you said yours isn't turning back on so I'm thinking it's your battery.
There is another thread on here somewhere that the op stated their phone was doing that and it turned out the solution was place something at the top of the battery, forcing a little more pressure on the battery contacts and it solved their issue..
    Hope that helps

Hey, thanks for the info! Suprisingly, they haven't suggested a task killer, and as far as I know I've never installed one..lol

My next step was going to be putting the old battery back in. In fact I was going to do that earlier, but it's at home. I just thought if someone knew this was a known issue and the reasons/fixes for it, then I might be able to get it resolved. I hated the life on the original battery! The one I have now will at least last over a day...lol

Anyway, I'll try the old battery and post back with an update.

    BTW Love your signature!
