Rooted with Unrevoked 3 but still have s-on.

During the root process it stopped on "rebooting into recovery" and the phone stayed in Clockwork Recovery until I chose the reboot to system option. Afterwards Unrevoked said it was done and I had the superuser app. However, I'm still showing s-on.

I only rooted in order to back up my apps with all their data and market links, and flash a rom like Cyanogenmod to get rid of Sense. Can I do a nand backup and flash roms without s-on? I don't want to mess around with my phone any further until I know for sure.
