Rooted S-Off, then Unrooted S-ON... OTA update won't run
I rooted my dinc using unrevoked. I didn't flash any custom roms, just used titanium backup etc.
When i initially received the OTA prompt, I tried to install to no avail. I received it a couple times, each time trying to install it. The fourth time, after I pressed "install and reboot" I started getting force-closing apps everywhere. I reported, did a battery pull and still the force closing persisted.
So I turned S back ON and unrooted, flashing the 2.2 RUU. That went fine, now I'm enjoying a stock dinc.
Except the recent OTA prompts are STILL freezing on "rooting now..." edit: ("rebooting now")
Can someone help me get this OTA to go through? I'm concerned that when the Gingerbread OTA comes along, I'm gonna have issues.
Thanks all

OTA is freezing on "rooting now"? I don't think the ota will try and root anything. Whats it really saying as I am assuming this is a typo.
Well here is the RUU in .exe form. Usually need to have HTC sync installed for the correct drivers for it to work.

Oops sorry... it freezes on "rebooting now"
So I need to reinstall the RUU? That would mean I would have to re-root using unrevoked, correct?
Is there any other way of getting the OTA to work?

No. This is the official tool VZW would use if you took it in. No root is needed. Just need to install HTC sync on your PC and you should good to run it.

Forgive my stupidity, but was does the term "rooted" mean in regard to my Droid Incredible?

I did like you said and everything installed perfectly. Back to stock!
Thank you very much for your help.
