One that that needs to be done on most ROM's is to go into Settings Applications > Running and locate the clock and clear data. Then go rename the HTCLockscreen.apk and reboot.

Thanks, Nils! Hopefully that gets the OP where he wants to be.
Thanks Nils, I updated the OP of my post to reflect that.
I tried again using this method, no luck created endless boot loop. Ill try loading up a lockscreen from the rom manager package while doing this first.
edit: nope still stuck. perhaps my phone has no lockscreen to fall back on, is there anyway i can add it or replace the current file?

re inspector, do I just load the zip in clockwork mod? I'm not 100 % certain I can find the right zip. i really can't explain these endless loops.
According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686567

I am running Skyraider 3.3.2 and I have the vanilla lockscreen. I used the same method s197 posted and it worked without a hitch. Not really sure why is doesn't work for you.
Wierd. Im looking now.. In /System/Framework there is a folder called lockscreens, and in that folder is... what appears to be the rotary and tab unlock screens 'android.policy.rotary.jar' and 'android.policy.tab.jar'
So those files are present, however when i try to rename htclockscreen to something other than .apk, it results in endless loop boots. dunno

Ok this is where I am at now. I replaced my SR 3.3 Sense with SR 3.0 RC3. I didnt use sense ui anyway, and it comes default with the lock bar i wanted. I have all my applications restored and kings 5 kernel, and I feel like my system is in an identical spot to the way it was before. Is there any downsides to using SR 3.0 RC3 versus 3.3 Sense? other then i cant use htc widgets.
