    Help with unrevoked and linux

Background....Ok for those who have read my dilemma with rooting 2.2 (CID missing). I decided to downgrade to 2.1 and try root..Well that went well.really..THe first time I ran unrevoked it said the root was a triumph..but it was not.. Then after that I get the cid error about after the 3rd reboot... So i decided to try this on linux ubuntu 10.1.Of course I know very little (pretty much nothing) about linux...but I can follow directions....My problem that im having is when i connect the usb,, unrevoked does not recognise the phone....If I mount the phone as disk drive linux recognises the phone..

Anyone willing to help or point me to an active IRC channel?

    thanks

The CID error is a problem with the device and not the tool or what OS you are trying to run it on. They put that safe measure there because it was causing semi bricks.(Meaning alot of work to get it back) As crappy as it is to say I would wait until there next release. Now if you are feeling adventurous you can proceed to try. Their IRC is #unrevokedtest on freenode. It may take a bit for someone to answer but be patient and they maybe able to help or give you a better answer.

No problem. If you do decide to keep going please let me/us know what you do.

Well just for fun I thought I would give it one more go since the OTA 2.2 was asking to be installed on the 2.1.. So I did the downgrade again and run it in linux...It was still a no go during one of the reboots got error 19 no device i terminal window ....then the dreaded backup CID is missing came up in unrevoked....I believe I have done all I can do for now...I'll have to wait on the new release....I tried

I think I know how to get around it but it is not for the faint of heart and don't want to test the theory on a device not my own. Like I said if you want to continue trying go to their(correct their this time) channel on IRC as they are the experts.

Yes I think I better wait until there is a fix..or its a last resort...I've probably been fairly lucky performing the downgrade successful and having the CID error....

I've been in the "unrevokedtest" channel many times; as far as I can tell its the correct one you speak of...never any responses tho.....Earlier I listed the wrong channel name..i couldn't recall the name off the top of my head...

Okay Ive seen that a few people have been able to root their incredible since I started trying to root mine.....So What makes my phone "special" so that it currently cannot be rooted using unrevoked 3.21?
