Hi, new to site, but been prowling for sometime, finally feeling confident enough to try rooting, but have a question regarding the instructions listed here.
3B- For those with AMOLED screens (Sku ends in a 2) start here (you can skip 3A):
NOTE: You'll already be in HBOOT (if you followed the instructions above to verify that root was successful) so do the backup now.
While in HBOOT, use the volume buttons to navigate down to RECOVERY and press the Power button. The phone will appear to reboot but it will end up in the ClockWorkMod recovery screen.
Does the unrevoked come with the ClockworkMod, or does that need installed on its own as well?
Also, I've seen people having changed their radio versions or some such...is that required after using unrevoked, or is unrevoked an all in one, do it and you're rooted and running smooth.
I'll get into custom ROM's once I'm rooted...but just wanting to know if the instructions listed here is really ALL you have to do to get rooted.
Thanks for any help. The community support on this site is AMAZING!!!

Mike- unrevoked includes the latest version of ClockWorkMod, so you don't need to worry about installing anything separately. Unrevoked is really all in one. If you're coming from the OTA, your radio should be 2.15.07.28- that's perfect and there is NO need to update radios. You can check your radio before you start by going to Settings --> About phone ---> Baseband version. If you HAVEN'T gotten the OTA for some reason and are running a 1.x radio then we would discuss further.
Unrevoked takes care of everything for you- gets you permanent root access, turns s-off (security-off) so you can flash ROMs and anything else down the line if you so choose without having to worry about it. It's pretty great and very easy to use. Let us know if you have any further questions- we're happy to help!

Thanks for input enlightened!
So...I appear to be rooted, I have the superuser app like it says I should....but all the bloatware the phone came with installed (cityID, Skype, etc. etc.) is still there....did I miss something?
-
And Sense UI is still there, is that normal? I thought there would be some kind of basic GUI I'd be getting that was super slimmed down. The fact that its all still there is awesome! Just wondering how I get rid of that Skype and CityID garbage now. I don't use that stuff at all.

Correct, all of the stock setup will be there. Now that you're rooted, you can now go and start installing the slimmed down ROM's. Frankenrom, Skyraider, and Redemptive are all based on the Sense setup. I would recommend Skyraider while you get used to being rooted and then start venturing into the other ROM's if you would like. Personally, I think it is easier and better installing full ROM's than trying to remove apps yourself. And usually much better performance.

Thanks jkhonea, I like the idea of this as well. Is it normal to see an instant performance increase once rooted? Getting into my menus is noticeably faster than it was? Guess I'll be spending the next few days figuring out how to install a new ROM. Something tells me its not as simple as using unrevoked was, I still can't believe that was that easy.

I'm not sure I'll be able to take it if I've ruined my phone, but I still need to ask.
I followed the instructions up to this point:
"3B- For those with AMOLED screens (Sku ends in a 2) start here (you can skip 3A):
NOTE: You'll already be in HBOOT (if you followed the instructions above to verify that root was successful) so do the backup now.
While in HBOOT, use the volume buttons to navigate down to RECOVERY and press the Power button. The phone will appear to reboot
but it will end up in the ClockWorkMod recovery screen."
When the above completed, I was left with an image of my phone with a red "caution" triangle with an exclamation point.
I guess I need help.
UPDATE:
I was able to simply reboot my phone and get back to "normal"

Step 3A. Where it says to download http://dougpiston.com/files/Recovery...MG_cwm_mod.zip. Says page not found. Any other place to get file?
OK, just read another post on this. I am rooting a friends phone. He just got it so pretty sure he has slcd. Now am I correct that the problem with flashing a recovery image is fixed now by doing this thru rom manager?
