    I just got the USB bootloader in hbott - and even though I still couldn't get the PC to see the card or phone when it was up I managed to run Unrevoked 3 (just in case it wasn't rooted) - then I loaded the Cyanogen 6 RC3 & Gapps zips onto the sd card and things are looking good. At least I've got Market etc. I'll keep you posted and a million thanks for your help (so far , fingers crossed
