Step by step guide to 2.2?
Are there any detailed, dumbed down tutorials out there for getting and flashing the most recent/official version of Froyo. I see a lot of different aspects of it around here, including some steps I'm not so sure about (radio), but nothing all inclusive so far.

I'd like to see this as well. I get how to flash the ROMs but the radio is very iffy. I always see big warnings that say of not done right it will brick your phone, but no one ever gives steps and a link to the file to update the radio.

I'll get one up soon. As for bricking your phone you pretty much have to try to do something wrong in order to brick it.

Seriously? There's a "how to" thread right in this forum, as I type it's two posts down! Read a little and do some research, it will benefit you in the long run. People can't make it anymore clearer.....

As Htc said, you really have to make one hell of an effort to brick your phone. Just trying something like rooting or loading a rom will not do it. I recommend using Rom manager after you get rooted and just doing everything thing through it including backups. Remember that you cannot have to many backups. Just make it when things are working the way you like it and then you can ALWAYS come back to it as long as you are rooted. A backup is like and image of your exact system. When you reload it, things will be as if you never left that moment in time.
Even with using Rom manager, you should, at least one time, boot into recovery and maybe do a nandroid back up this way. It is good to know how to do these things and how your phones buttons work while in there.

Yeah..check out the "how to" a few posts down. Once the different groups start putting more and more roms out there, it will be good to go to their sites and read about the rom itself. It will give instructions on how to install, but many are just a matter of putting the zip file (leave as a zip file) on the root of your sd card and then just choosing to install the zip file from sd card. Rom manager is probably the easiest way to do this. Just remember to back up, back up and then back up again as you do different things. That way you can always come back to a certain spot. Name it something that makes sense. I am also a firm believer in doing a wipe of the phone before loading a new rom. Only exception for me is an update to a current rom I have installed.
