Unrevoked wont work for me

I have an Incredible on 2.2. I have read where unrevoked is the best method to root. However, when I try to root it with unrevoked, the process will always stop after a few minutes and say" lost communication with your phone, please try again." This occurs after the first reboot. Two questions, what is causing this? (My computer says my drivers are up to date.) Second question, has anyone had luck with superone click? I was able to root my old Moto Droid 1 with superoneclick and I am thinking about using it to root my incred. Thanks!

Superoneclick will not work on your Incredible. What type of machine are you trying to root on? And are you using the original OEM usb cable that came with the phone?

Oh man, I didn't even think about the cable. No, I am using my old Droid 1 cable. I bought the Incredible from a friend who didn't have the USB cable. I bet that is the problem. My wife has an Incredible 2. Do you think her cable would work? Thanks for the info I dont think I would have even thought about that.

Give it a shot. Should probably work. But what type of computer are you using to try to root? That may be more of the issue.

Ok, I used an Incredible 2 USB and that didn't work either. I am using a Dell laptop running windows 7.

Keep getting the cant communicate message. I read somewhere that some program that communicates to my computer through the USB might be causing the problem. I uninstalled HTC Sync and Dropbox. Anyone know any other suggestions? Your help is appreciated.
