Vzn blocking all free song apps now?

So... Am I correct in assuming that Verizon has gone on a real kick and is blocking any and all apps that allow free downloading of music. There were a few that allowed downloading of older classic rock songs and I was building a great library of these. I had a major phone malfunction and lost a third of my apps with about 80% of the remaining ones all force closing on me. So I was in the process of reloading my Gtunes app and got the now familiar "App not found" from Market. I then did a search on App Brain and found a couple other music apps and lo and behold the same popup...

Also "Not Found" is Droid Tunes, Free Music Downloads, Music Junk, along with some other apps that I have no idea why they are blocked, like Profile Valet...

I knew that PDANet was a goner. Apparently Vzn is making a concerted effort to block several others that they deem as financially detrimental to their bottom line? Or is there another reason for this "Not Found"?

If you're not finding an App in the "usual" Market listings, have you used Google to find your way on to the website of that App?

Put your phone in Airplane mode. Then connect to WiFi (with airplane mode still on). Go back to the market and see if you can download the blocked apps.

Through this method I was able to update PDAnet through the market, however, I'm not sure if it works with new installs.

jpr, I have done that and downloaded the .apk file to my laptop. I am going to try to transfer via bluetooth momentarily. s197, thanks for the tip. I was not aware wi-fi worked in airplane mode. I will try that...

Looks like the boys at Verizon are trying to clean up the market. Not sure if that's good or bad...

I just tried the Airplane Mode/WiFi system and it worked. I was not able to get GTunes - some weird website (wanted me to connect through my phone's browser) and notice on my phone that concerned me so I disconnected immediately. I was able to download Free Music Download and it works great. Will try Valet Profile next. Thanks for the help!
