If you have a Best Buy nearby they have an awesome return policy.
I'd suggest look on Howardforums bluetooth sub forum as there are lots of models reviewed on different devices. If you find one you want to try, head to Best Buy and pick it up, if it isn't to your liking, they'll gladly take it back.
I agree, bluetooth earpiece crap shoots are a pain. I've stuck with my Plantronics Pro through the last few phones and have had a Jawbone Icon since it came out. My old Jabra 8010 is over 4 years old but still hangs in there, though the battery is hurting now from age
