So what are your thoughts on the amount of plastic on this phone?

I am mixed on this. Coming from the Droid I am use to heavy duty. Not sure how this plastic will hold up in the long run. What does everyone else think?

I'll probably have a case on it anyway, so the durability shouldn't be much of an issue. I'm actually kind of glad it has so much plastic, since the lightness will be a nice touch after being accustomed to carrying the Droid in my pocket for 7 months lol.

This I agree with. I actually never really thought much about it until looking at the reviews (all very good, but they do mention the plastic) and seeing some other posts in the Droid forums. I think most of my phones have been plastic anyway.

The Droid is the most durable phone I have ever owned. But I tend to take really good care of my phones anyway. So a little plastic wouldn't sway my decision. Unless of course it was real flimsy feeling.

I am not really worried about the amount of plastic, most plastics or composites now are very durable and strong. They even make engine parts out of plastics.

My Razr is made of plastic and I have dropped it off of a balcony (not intentionally :P) without any apparent ill effects. Now I don't plan on trying this with the Dinc, but I don't really think plastic = cheap POS anymore.

Most of my phones have been plastic so I'm not bothered with it. We will just have to see how it feels in our hands. If it feels like its going to fall apart on me then i definitely wont buy one but i don't think this will be the case at all. I think the Droid is the first phone i have ever had that is made from metal. Then again i didn't pay much attention to phones before the Droid so i don't know lol.

Yeah. I was thinking about this more and more. Having come from BB I can say that plastic was in the mix and I never cared. Even before that with my Moto and palm's it was basically plastic. Usually I don't let reviewers get to me to much, or posters for that matter. I am with you, I bet it will feel solid and no issues there. Besides....as much as I love my Droid (and I do) I wouldn't mind going a little lighter for my use. Plus...with the exception of the screen in sunlight (which is already a given) you cant beat the reviews. One thing I find funny...I have looked at 4 or 5 reviews and each has a different interpretation of the camera and video. It all comes down to expectations and know how. It really looks like the camera adjustments are nice on this one..

Since I'm pretty careful with my current phone (Droid), and it'll be resting in my pocket most of the time, I'm looking forward to a lighter, less bulky phone.

Yeah most phones are at least 75% plastic so its nothing really new to me. Having a lighter phone will be good. In my honest opinion even the droid is hard to see in direct sunlight so this isn't a big thing to me either. Any phone screen is difficult to see in the sun. As far as the cameras go i think it will be a nice camera but i also think that people got to remember that its still a cell phone camera and not a digital camera. For being a cell phone cam i have seen awesome quality pics and video come from the Incredible (on the reviews) but personally i dont use the phone camera often so that's not even a big deal for me either. I am more going for the Processor, Internal Storage and the 512MB Ram. The LED screen i'm sure will be really nice as well although its a little less resolution than the droid. Theres only one concern i have with the Incredible and that is battery life. It is said to be less battery life than the droid so i hope the leaked pics of an extended battery made by HTC are actually true.
