    insufficient app data space

My phone keeps telling me to remove applications and data because it's losing storage space, but I have 6.2gb available on "phone storage" and 500mb free on "phone memory". I think it says to delete some e-mails but can't read the rest of the instructions because it's on the menu bar on top and gets cut off. Has anyone else found this issue and possible resolved it?

Would really like a good answer. Have taken most email off, all instant messages and have taken all but one application off and still get this error message. Stopped at Verizon store and they were useless on this issue. "Just the way it is"
    Thanks

Is your Facebook set to auto sync? If so clear it's data and unsync it
Go to main menu, manage applications, Facebook, clear data.
For sync go to main menu, accounts and sync, uncheck Facebook

Thanks for the reply, have never used the social programs and all the cache's had been cleared and the problem continues.

Ok.I mentioned Facebook because on mine it was set to sync out of the box , though I never used it and it was the source of my phone memory issue until I turned sync off

Unfortunately this is a problem that we've been trying to figure out on several of the boards and we don't have a conclusive answer yet. One thing that appears to come into play is that there is a "memory leak" somewhere within the operations of the phone that cause memory from the mail or social areas to bleed over into the app memory. I don't know that anyone has found a conclusive answer yet. I know I had removed Google Earth one time and that cleared it on mine. Since then, I've gone to either flashing new ROM's or reinstalling as I never found a truly succinct way of fixing the issue.

I wish I had a better answer for you. It's frustrating that we can't pin down exactly what is going on with this or how to cure it without basically doing a factory restore on the phone.

Thanks to you both. I should have said I did disconnect the social sync's as well. One of the first things I tried. Down know one additional download to the phone (flashlight). Anytime try to add another if not instantly told out of app space within a couple of days it will appear.
Appreciate the answers and see that I am not the only one with this situation. Guess have to wait to the contract expires and try the Iphone next time.
    Thanks again

Have the same issue. Its been going on for weeks but my phone was fully functional.. up until now. My phone was unable to receive picture messages and then it was unable to read or send text messages. I just read this post and cleared & unsynced my FB. The message went away for the first time since its appeared and the phone is back to normal. Thanks for the suggestion mountainbikermark! Hopefully this works but from what I gather, it will be coming back soon

On another note, do you guys think rooting my phone would help? I really don't know what I'm doing and I'm nervous that I'll end up with an expensive brick! Any suggestions/comments will help!

    Thanks

I was getting that and 3 weeks ago a friend turned me onto this App. Problem is now gone.

aCCleaner Free (Cache Cleaner) - Android app on AppBrain
aCCleaner – Cache Cleaner for Android

There is also a Pro version but the free one has done fine by me.

I have also found to clear out (delete) old messages and emails needs to be done often to allow new messages to come through as well as get rid of the insufficient app data space error and allow new messages.
Thanks Skipdawg have down loaded your suggestion and will keep it on until the error message comes back again in a couple of days.
